Are You Passionate About Quilting?
Do you love to see inspiring quilts that stimulate your creativity? Would you love to see a quilt show with inspirational quilts in Calgary?
This is your opportunity to help make it happen!
The Calgary Quilt Festival Association (CQFA) invites you to become a Founding Friend —a select group of supporters helping to establish a lasting, community-driven celebration of quilting artistry here in Calgary.
Your support will help launch a flagship event that recognizes creativity, craftsmanship and connection—while building a legacy for years to come.
Who is the Calgary Quilt Festival Association?
The Calgary Quilt Festival Association was created in 2026 by a dedicated group of volunteers to continue the tradition of a spring showcase for Calgary area quilters. The Festival of Quilts at Heritage Park celebrated our quilting community for 30 great years, but has been sadly discontinued. Our members have made the commitment to build a new event from the ground up.
We have been registered as a non-profit organization with the Government of Alberta under the Societies Act. We have not yet pursued charitable status, which is a federal designation, and which requires a longer period of operation and more paperwork. We will certainly look into this when we become eligible.
Mission: To showcase the diverse art of quilting by highlighting creativity, storytelling, craftsmanship and community connection while encouraging participation from quilters of all skill levels.
Vision: To cultivate a vibrant quilting community where creativity thrives, diversity is celebrated and quilting is recognized as a powerful artistic and storytelling medium.
The inaugural Calgary Quilt Festival will take place on May 28-29, 2027. We have reserved the Garrison Curling Club, located just off Crowchild Trail at 2288 47 Ave SW, Calgary, AB.
We are applying for grants to support the costs of putting on a large quilt show, but are also appealing to the quilt community for help.
Our members have a wide range of quilting and volunteer experience, and are excited to be involved in bringing this dream to life! We'll introduce the team in upcoming newsletters - you can join our list below, and follow us on social media for more news.
